Well we made it through 2025 and what a year it’s been. Kicking off with Lunar New Year of the Snake in January & February which is always a busy time for our group performing Lion Dances and teaching school workshops access the North East. Also in February we had to move Moi Fa from its Walkergate location which we had for 14 years to our new location at Byker Bridge. This was huge job and I am thankful for all the students who helped with the move and the decorating and work to make it functional.
It has taken a few months to settle into our new home but this did not stop us progressing with our training and this year has seen Black Belt promotions for Guba Doce Pares and also our Mantis group.
We have also run several successful beginner courses on kickboxing and taught two self defence sessions for local University students. We also hosted Sifu Ortiz from the USA for a workshop and had a trip to Hungary to compete and train with our Mantis family. One of our students achieved first place in forms and I got to judge and be part of a Masters grading exam.
I was also very pleased that 2 of my students went with my teacher to China this year to train with our Tai Chi family in Foshan. Learning directly from the source in Liu He Ba Fa and Tai Chi Pushing Hands.
